Vietnam Adoptions will have children available whose age will range between 4 to 12 months. Older children will be available for adoption as well. There are more boys available to adopt than girls but if you would prefer a girl it may take longer to find one. The majority of Vietnamese children are healthy, however there is a problem of premature birth and low birth weight.
One requirement for Vietnam adoptions is that couples must have been married for at least 2 years. Someone who has divorced before may adopt, but you may not have more than 2 divorces. Single individuals who are straight may also adopt. Other qualifications for Vietnam adoptions are that you must be 20 years older than the child you wish to adopt and the adoptive parents must be under 50 years of age. However, parents over 50 can adopt older children. Vietnamese adoptions may not allow large families to adopt, while parents without children aren’t allowed to be gender specific. Parents with 1 or 2 children are allowed to pick the gender of the child.
It is hard to give a time frame for Vietnam adoptions because of new laws being passed. Vietnamese adoptions are fairly popular, but the adoption rate may be slowing down because of other programs. Due to the poverty stricken nature and dense population in Vietnam it has resulted in many children being orphaned or abandoned.
You will begin receiving referrals with pictures and medical information once your home study has been accepted. As soon as you have decided on a referral it will be time to gather and compile your dossier. Your dossier will then be sent to the Vietnam authorities to look over. Once the dossier has been approved by the authorities you will be able to travel to Vietnam to pickup your child. Only one parent is required to go but it is recommended that both parents travel to see the country. A stay of 10 to 14 days will be necessary. There will be many things see and do while in Vietnam. Indulge your senses and take a few sightseeing trips. The total cost of Vietnam adoptions will usually range in the $25 to $30,000.00 area. In Vietnam there is a wide range of religious beliefs. Buddism is primarily the largest religion, but in Vietnam you will find Islam, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism. A few facts about Vietnam; They are extremely good at preparing vegetarian meals, their main food source is rice and Vietnam is a very mountainous country.
Vietnam adoptions have begun to soar since the country has opened backup in 2006. We need to remember that America is a melting pot of different races and cultures. Unfortunately, some people have a hard time understanding this is how it all started and this is how America became what it is today. When Americans adopt children from Vietnam it shows people that race doesn’t matter. When we mix cultures it will make the world a better place.
